"Magical Realism" Original Painting on Wood Frame
"Magical Realism" Original Painting on Wood Frame
I’ve been quietly watching my 4.5 year old paint lately. It’s something we do together a few times a week. He loves coming into my studio and “checking on the paintings”. It’s become a bit of a tradition. In so many ways Shep is my biggest teacher in life, but now he’s become my most favorite teacher in my art journey. We sit on the floor of my studio together, mostly with lights low and music turned off. I watch him work on his paintings, he is always busy humming and singing while creating. I always ask him what he thinks about when he’s making something. Sometimes it’s about a superhero / villain but sometimes he just says “i don’t think I’m just doing it”.
I’m really starting to think that we’ve been brought up all wrong for so long. It’s time to listen to these little wise creatures. I’m letting him lead the way. That’s actually why I named him Shepherd. I had a feeling he would be a true leader.
This painting is came about while hanging out with Shep in the studio, with the lights low listening to him sing songs.
